Sandal Tutorial Page 2.
Here the straps are in position.
Here is the bottom.
Next trim the straps so they roughly come
through the leather 1/4". Use a toothpick to
coat the insides of the straps with Liquitex
Matte Medium.
I use metal shims on top and bottom to help
the clothespins squeeze the straps tight, but
you could use popsicle sticks or whatever you
have to do this, just make sure the matte
medium doesn't touch the wood.
Here they are glued (with the Matte Medium)
and clamped - top view.
Here is the bottom view.  Let dry for several hours.
Here is the bottom side with the flaps dry.
I ordinarily sew the uppers to the soles but in this example
have decided to glue them to make it easier. I have cut out
the sandals and positioned them on bottom side of two
pieces of oversized leather (which have been fixed with
Matte Medium).  Since the bottoms won't be seen when
displayed, you could stop here without attaching a lower
sole piece if you choose to.
Here the uppers have been glued (using matte medium)
to the sole with the good side of the soles down. I used
more shims to cover more surface below and above the
straps and more clothespins to get more squeeze across
the whole sandal. And I will let dry for several hours.
Here they are glued
together.
Here they are cut out.
Here they are finished and on his feet.
Hope you decide to make some sandals.

Thank You and I hope that you enjoyed reading this tutorial.
